Each System will have their own clients apart from the default Clients.
We will Discuss on these briefly.
1. Development System :-
In the Development System, there can be 2 or 3 clients apart from the default Clients.
( i ) Golden Client :-
This is the Client where all the Functional Configurations are done by the functional team. This Client does not have any Master data or transaction Data. The Integrity of this Client is very important as it has all the Configuration changes. All the Configuration changes are captured in a transport request and are moved onto the subsequent Clients/Systems for testing and finally moved to the Production Client.
( ii ) Abap Development Client
This Client is used by the Developers for performing all the Abap Developments like reports..etc.
All the changes are captured in a transport request and are moved onto the subsequent Clients/Systems for testing and finally moved to the Production Client.
( iii ) Unit Test Client
This client is used as a unit test client for testing. The Transport requests created in the Golden Client Is imported in this Client and the Core Team/ Functional Team creates Sample Data and perform unit tests.
After testing, the transport requests are moved to the quality Client
2. Quality System :-
In the Quality System , there can be 1 or 2 clients apart from the default Clients
( i ). Quality Client
This Client has the Data (Master Data and Transactional Data) Copied from the Production Client.
All the Configuration changes which were captured in the transport request are moved in this Client
and tested here with the data copied from production. After testing and Approval the transport requests are moved to the Production Client
( ii ) Unit Test Client
This client is also used for unit testing. The Core Team can create Sample Data and perform the tests based on this sample data.
3. Production System :-
In the Production System , there is always 1 client apart from the default Clients.
( i) Production Client :-
This is the Production Client and has the Live Customer Data. The End Users log in to this Client and do their normal Operations.
Changes to this Client are Restricted as the Production Client is locked for any changes.
All the Configuration Changes are done by importing the transport request from the Quality System.
Only tested and Approved Transport request are imported into the Production Server.
